Report: Pete Rose making $1M/year signing autographs
A recent report in the Wall Street Journal claims that former Cincinnati Red Pete Rose makes over 1 million dollars a year signing autographs.
Baseball's all-time hit leader spends several hours a day at a sports memorabilia shop in Las Vegas, signing autographs from fans. For this, he has raked in millions of dollars.
The report says that Rose is at the shop 15-25 days a month, and will sign anything that is purchased at the shop, owned by his business partners.
"Pete's job is to be Pete Rose," said Joie Casey, president of Hit King Inc., which manages Rose's autograph ventures. "And he's the best Pete Rose there's ever been."
Rose has been signing autographs in Vegas since 2005, about a year after confessing to having bet on baseball games. Rose had denied the charge, which got him banned from baseball by former commissioner Bart Giamatti. His confession has done very little to change the verdict on his professional career.
