Report: Jim Irsay's daughter will oversee Colts in his absence

Published Mar. 19, 2014 3:26 p.m. ET

The Colts apparently are keeping it in the family.

With team owner Jim Irsay heading to rehab in the wake of a recent arrest, his daughter Carlie Irsay-Gordon reportedly will control the day-to-day football operations in Jim's absence. Irsay-Gordon is one of Jim Irsay's three children he had with ex-wife Meg.

Irsay-Gordon's duties would be to sign off on trades, acquisitions and other such business. She has attended the NFL owners meetings with her father for several years and could end up speaking in her father's place when the gathering begins on Sunday.

Irsay-Gordon started as an intern in the team's football and marketing departments and has worked her way up since graduating from Skidmore College in 2005. She, along with her two siblings, will have equal ownership of the Colts when Jim Irsay dies.

The team is unlikely to miss a beat while Jim recovers.
