Report: Cavs getting their face-to-face with Blatt

David Blatt will conduct an in-person interview with the Cavaliers for their head-coaching vacancy Wednesday in Cleveland, according to FOX Sports1/Yahoo NBA insider Adrian Wojarnowski.

The Cavs have spoken to Blatt by phone, but the longtime overseas coach hadn't committed to coming to the U.S. until last week, when he resigned from coaching Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Blatt, 55, is also said to be up for an assistant job with the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors hired former Cavs guard Steve Kerr as their head coach several weeks ago.

The Cavs made it clear to Blatt that he could not be hired without a face-to-face interview, sources said. It is believed Los Angeles Clippers assistants Alvin Gentry and Tyrone Lue each interviewed for a second time last week. Sources indicated Gentry would need to wow owner Dan Gilbert, who prefers a "splashy" hire, to win the job.

Blatt has been overseas since 1981, when he began a pro career in Israel as a player. He began coaching in Israel in 1993, and has also coached the Russian national team. His most recent stint with Maccabi Tel Aviv began in 2010.
