Report: Bryant viewed Howard's departure from Lakers as 'positive'

Prior to signing with the Houston Rockets, Dwight Howard spent one (mostly forgettable) season with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2012-13.

During his time in Hollywood, it was well-noted that he and Lakers star Kobe Bryant had a rocky relationship, to say the least.

Now, after one season apart, Bryant is reportedly viewing Howard's departure to Houston via free agency as a "positive" for his Lakers, according to CBSSports.com.

While the jury is still out as to whether Howard left L.A. in favor of Houston because of an alleged personality clash with Bryant, the Lakers' aging star might want to look no further than his team's record from the 2013-14 campaign, in which they missed the playoffs, going just 27-55, as he sat out all but six games because of two injuries.

Tuesday, fans will likely finally get the Bryant/Howard face-off they've been waiting for as the Rockets open the regular season on the road at Staples Center against the Lakers. With the two on the court opposite of each other for the first time since being teammates, will we see any sparks fly?
