Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun will play for the United States in the World Baseball Classic, the five-time All-Star told 1250-AM WSSP in Milwaukee on Monday.
Braun, who batted .381 in six games during the 2009 WBC, told the radio station he's already preparing for this year's event. Team USA will begin training in Phoenix on March 4, a few weeks after the Brewers begin spring training in Phoenix. The American team will play its first-round games March 7-10 in Phoenix.
Braun, a 29-year-old five-time All-Star, was the runner-up in 2012 National League Most Valuable Player voting. He batted .319 with 41 home runs, 112 RBI and 30 stolen bases. In 2011, he won the NL MVP award.
