Reds stacked behind the plate

When it comes to catching, the Cincinnati Reds appears to have caught it all.

They have two No. 1 catchers, two 1-As in the RH Factor -- Ramon Hernandez and Ryan Hanigan, who will share the duties this season.

And they have two No. 1 draft picks knocking on the catcher's box in Devin Mesoraco (2007) and Yazmani Grandal (2010).

And don't forget Corky Miller, the veteran who keeps hanging around, playing mostly at Triple-A Louisville, then coming up when needed and providing big-league caliber catching and clubhouse leadership and humor -- one of the most popular players on the team.

Because Hernandez and Hanigan are equally adept and proficient, both offensively and defensively, manager Dusty Baker likes to split their playing time, which he says is better for the club in the long run because it keeps the team equipped with a fresh catcher.
