Reds place Cingrani on DL, recall Villareal

The Cincinnati Reds have placed left-handed pitcher Tony Cingrani on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left shoulder. The move was retroactive to Sunday, and the Reds recalled right-handed pitcher Pedro Villarreal from Triple-A Louisville.

Last season Cingrani spent extensive time on the DL with shoulder tendonitis. 

So far this season, Cingrani is 0-3 with a 3.47 ERA.

Villarreal will be spending time in the big leagues for the fifth time this season. In three games with the Reds he is 0-0 with a 7.71 ERA.
