Reds minor leaguer pulls a Will Ferrell, plays all nine spots
The Cincinnati Reds' Double-A affiliate, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, had their division clinched with one game remaining on Sunday. According to mlb.com, Ray Chang, the team's shortstop was given a decision to start the day, take the day off or play all nine positions.
Chang chose the latter, and made a meaningless game for the team a little more interesting.
The shortstop had little trouble rotating through the infield and taking his spots in the outfield, but catching was a little bit more tricky.
In the eighth inning, Chang suited up to catch battery mate Zack Weiss, Pensacola's closer.
And, with a 90-mph fastball coming in, Chang said catching was not easy.
"Catching [was the hardest] by far," Chang said after the game according to mlb.com. "The hardest part about it is when the ball's in the strike zone, you know that guy's going to swing, but you have to keep focused on the ball and not the bat coming through the zone."
After his adventure behind the dish, Chang took to the bump and tossed a scoreless ninth inning to close out a Blue Wahoos' win.
Some of you might remember, comedian Will Ferrell's five-game, 10-team and 10-position performance from preseason.
