Red Wings to host annual youth hockey camp
Four-time Stanley Cup champion Kirk Maltby and Red Wings goaltending coach Jim Bedard will lead a three-day youth hockey camp sponsored by the Wings and Perani's Hockey World.
This year's camp runs from Aug. 10-12 for minor hockey players between the ages of 6-14 at Joe Louis Arena. Players aged 6-10 will participate in the mornings, and those 11-14 will take the ice in the afternoon. The cost is $269 for skaters and $219 for goalies.
This year, Maltby and Bedard will be joined by special guest coaches Danny DeKeyser, the Wings' defenseman, and teammates Luke Glendening and Riley Sheahan, both centers on a Detroit team that finished with 100 points this season and qualified for the Stanley Cup playoffs for the 24th straight year.
All camp participants will receive at least one hour and 15 minutes of on-ice instruction from these players and coaches each day.
In addition to dry-land training sessions led by members of the Wings' training staff, the camp includes a tour of the Red Wings' locker room and a trivia contest with Red Wings prizes.
Camp dues also include a Red Wings Youth Hockey Camp jersey, a personal photo taken in front of a Red Wings player locker of the attendee's choice, a certificate of participation and a ticket to a Red Wings preseason game this fall.
