Rays' Evan Longoria not amused by streaker at Trop

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Evan Longoria lived his first brush with a streaker Monday night. And, well, he's no fan.

The Tampa Bay Rays' third baseman called the act "shocking" and also delivered some sharp words for the man who raced onto the diamond at Tropicana Field and tried to steal second base before the fifth inning of the Rays' series-opening victory over the Texas Rangers.

"It was actually the first time I had seen a real quote-unquote streaker, either naked or in their underwear," said Longoria, who was on the field at the time of the incident.

"People think it's cool and people think it's funny, but that guy is going to spend two or three nights in jail, and he’s going to get fined $5,000. It's just as stupid as getting a DUI. Why would you do it? You pay a fine, and you're probably going to have a record."

The streaker's fame was short-lived, of course. He tried to lift second base before being tackled from behind by a security guard. Some fans cheered as the man, only wearing white briefs, was escorted off the field.

"It's definitely not worth it in the end, because you’re going to have your five minutes of fame," Longoria said, "and then it's all going to go away."

Not without some strange visuals first.
