Rangers undecided on Thursday starter
ARLINGTON, Texas – The Texas Rangers haven't decided on their starter for their series finale against New York Thursday.
If the club remained on schedule, right-hander Ross Wolf would get the call. But Wolf allowed seven runs in three innings Saturday in just his third start for the club.
"He (Wolf) is in the mix of course," Rangers manager Ron Washington said.
If the Rangers don't start Wolf, their options are limited unless they acquire a pitcher through a trade. Justin Grimm, who is working in the bullpen, is an option. The club could also bring Josh Lindblom back from Triple A.
While the club isn't set Thursday, it will go with Yu Darvish, Alexi Ogando and Derek Holland in the first three games of the series.
It will mark the first time since June 16-18 the club has gotten three-consecutive starts from members of its Opening Day rotation.
