Rangers TV announcer to miss two games

Texas Rangers television play-by-play man Dave Barnett will miss the final two games of a series at San Diego to address a medical condition, the club announced Tuesday.

During a moment in the eighth inning of Monday's game, Barnett experienced problems with his speech. After a brief pause, his speech returned to normal and he finished the game and postgame show without incident.

Barnett, according to a Rangers' press release, believes the problem is a recurrence of migraine headaches. He will undergo an evaluation over the next few days.

Rangers radio announcer Steve Busby will take Barnett's place in the TV booth alongside analyst Tom Grieve on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Bryan Dolgin, who hosts the Rangers pregame and postgame radio shows, will sub for Busby in the radio booth alongside Eric Nadel.

Barnett, a native of Denton, Texas, joined the Rangers' broadcast team in the radio booth in 2009. He did a limited number of TV games until assuming full-time play-by-play duties in May of 2011.

Barnett is a former radio and TV voice of the Dallas Mavericks and was the TV voice of the San Antonio Spurs for 10 seasons. He also spent 13 years with ESPN in a variety of duties before joining the Rangers' broadcasts.
