Rangers' Saunders leaves start with ankle injury

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- Texas Rangers left-hander Joe Saunders has left his start after being struck in the ankle by a ball.

The Rangers announced that Saunders was hit on the outside of the left ankle by Evan Longoria's liner in the fourth inning of Friday night's game against Tampa Bay,

X-rays were negative.

Daniel McCutchen replaced Saunders in the opener of a three-game series.
