ARLINGTON, Texas – Texas left fielder Ryan Rua's stint on the disabled list will be longer than two weeks.

Rua, who hurt right ankle in the home opener against Houston last Friday, has a small non-displaced fracture in his ankle and will be in a walking boot for three weeks. He'll then get the ankle rescanned and the club will proceed from there.

He was originally diagnosed with a severe ankle sprain, which he also has.

Rua will be back a lot sooner than right-hander Lisaverto Bonilla. Bonilla, who was a rotation candidate in spring training, opened the season on the 60-day disabled list with a right elbow impingement.

That diagnosis changed Monday as Bonilla will now have ulnar collateral ligament surgery on his elbow Friday and miss the entire season.

Bonilla is the second Texas pitcher to be lost for the season, joining Yu Darvish.
