Rangers prospect out after breaking bone in hand
ARLINGTON, Texas -- The trip to the All-Star Future's Game has all but been canceled for Texas catching prospect Jorge Alfaro.
Alfaro sustained a small non-displaced fracture of the left fifth metacarpal when he was hit by a pitch playing for Class A Hickory Friday night.
Alfaro is expected to miss several weeks and the All-Star game is July 14 in New York.
Alfaro, who turned 20 earlier this month, is batting .263 with 11 home runs and 39 RBI. He also has nine stolen bases. He was hitting .361 over the last 10 games. He had a five RBI game Thursday night.
