Texas left-hander Jeff Beliveau, who was designated for assignment last week by the Rangers, has been traded to Tampa Bay for cash considerations.

This is the third deal between the Rangers and the Rays this season and the second involving cash considerations.

Texas acquired catcher Robinson Chirinos for a player to be named later. The Rangers also sent catcher Juan Apodaca to the Rays for cash.

Beliveau was designated for assignment to make a spot on the 40-man roster for Chirinos.

Beliveau, who was in camp with the Rangers, pitched in just one game for Triple A Round Rock. He pitched two scoreless innings April 7. The Rangers acquired him off waivers from the Chicago Cubs last December.
