Rangers clear room for Hamilton by putting Feliz on DL
The Texas Rangers cleared a roster spot for outfielder Josh Hamilton Monday by putting right-hander Neftali Feliz on the 15 day disabled list because of an abscess under his right arm.
The Feliz move is retroactive to May 20. According to the Rangers Feliz underwent a procedure to address the situation while the team was in New York. The Rangers officially activated Hamilton from the DL Monday.
Feliz opened the season as the team's closer but lost that job after blowing a save May 16 against Cleveland. Since then he's pitched in just one game, that coming May 19 at Boston.
For the season Feliz has a 5.09 ERA and six saves.
The Rangers still have seven relievers on the roster despite the Feliz move.
