NEW YORK (AP) -- Texas second baseman Evan Van Hoosier has been suspended 50 games under baseball's minor league drug program following a positive test for amphetamine and a second positive test for a drug of abuse.

Van Hoosier had been with the Surprise Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League and will miss the rest of the AFL season.

The 21-year-old, an eighth-round draft pick in 2013, hit .326 with two homers and 34 RBIs this year for the Arizona League Rangers and the Class A High Desert Mavericks of the California League.

Van Hoosier's suspension, announced Friday by the commissioner's office, was the 94th this year under the minor league program, including 36 for drugs of abuse.
