The one-game suspension given to Detroit Lions center Dominic Raiola was upheld by the NFL following an appeal, the team confirmed Tuesday.

Raiola made his appeal to the league a day after the announcement came down that he was being suspended for stomping on the leg of Chicago defensive tackle Ego Ferguson.

Raiola will have to sit out Sunday's winner-take-all game for the NFC North championship at Green Bay (4:25 p.m. on FOX). He will be replaced in the starting lineup by rookie Travis Swanson.
