Rain washes out 1st day of Sri Lanka's tour opener
Heavy rain forced the cancellation of the first day's play in Sri Lanka's three-day warm up match against an Indian Board President's XI on Wednesday. Umpires Sunil Shastri and Rajesh Deshpande ruled out play after the western Indian city of Mumbai was lashed by heavy showers over the past two days. This is Sri Lanka's only practice match ahead of a three-test series beginning Monday in Ahmadabad. The other tests are scheduled for Kanpur and Mumbai. Ahmadabad and Mumbai were chosen after tests against England last year were shifted to other venues in the wake of the terrorist attack on Mumbai. Sri Lanka's tour will also feature five limited-overs internationals and two Twenty20 internationals. In 14 tests since its first tour to India in 1982-83, Sri Lanka has lost eight matches and drawn six.
