If you looked through our "Scurrilous Compendium of Cavalier Free Agency Rumors" earlier today, you would have seen an item about oft-injured, now-available C Greg Oden. There, we told you about a report that the Cavs and Spurs were ahead of the game in the battle for Greg Oden's services.
Au contraire!
This afternoon, another reporter from the same organization that produced the earlier report says that it's now the Heat and Spurs who are in the lead. Seems like mixed messages are coming out of the Oden camp. Either that, or this horse race is changing on an hour-to-hour basis.
Keep in mind that the Cavaliers are reluctant to give Oden any guaranteed money, as Sam Amico reported yesterday, making it less likely that they will sign the seven-footer.
