Pujara reaches 50, India leads by 385 in 3rd test vs NZ

INDORE, India (AP) Cheteshwar Pujara scored an unbeaten half century and shared a 76-run second-wicket stand with Gautam Gambhir as India increased its lead to 385 runs in the third cricket test against New Zealand, reaching lunch on day four at 127-2.

With five sessions remaining India, already with an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, will be aiming for quick runs to set up a declaration.

India resumed Tuesday at 16 without loss and progressed slowly in the morning session, adding 23 runs before Murali Vijay (19) was run out by Martin Guptill.

Gambhir recovered from an injury that forced him off the field late on Monday and added some spark to the innings. After being dropped by BJ Watling off Mitchell Santner's bowling, he went on to score his 22nd test half-century off 54 balls, inclusive of six fours.

He was caught at cover by Guptill two balls later from the bowling of Jeetan Patel (1-28).
