PHOENIX – This has to stop at some point, right?

Outfield prospect Yasiel Puig maintained his otherworldly form on Tuesday, as he was four for four and hit his third home run of the exhibition season in a 7-1 win over the Oakland Athletics.

The 22-year-old Cuban defector, who is expected to start the season in double-A Chattanooga, raised his spring average to .500.

In his first-inning at-bat, Puig fell behind to A’s starter Dan Straily, 0-2. But Puig worked the count full, then deposited the baseball on the other side of the left-field wall for a two-run home run.

Two innings later, Puig singled to the opposite field and effortlessly stole second base. The steal was his fourth of the spring.

Puig demonstrated his inexperience in the fifth inning, when he lifted a ball to left field that initially appeared catchable and didn’t run hard out of the box. When left fielder Yoenis Cespedes failed to catch the ball, Puig tried to stretch the single into a double and was thrown out at second base.

Puig tripled in his final at-bat.

Jerry Hairston also homered.

Chris Capuano had his best start of the spring, holding the A’s to a run and five hits over 5 2/3 innings.
