President Obama somehow grew half an inch in the last year

President Barack Obama lost five pounds and grew a half-inch the past year, according to his annual medical exam, released Tuesday.

Yes, while most people lose height as they get older, Obama, at 54, grew.

Obama, an avid basketball fan, has cut back on hooping over the last two years, even going so far as telling the Golden State Warriors on their recent visit to the White House that he no longer plays, but with the new up-tick in height, he might be keen to get back on the court. He could be a combo guard now.

Obama has been described as a solid all-around guard by those who have played hoops with him in the past.

New York Times bestselling author Tucker Max attended the University of Chicago when Obama was a lecturer there in the late 90's, and he estimates he played pick-up with the now Commander in Chief 500 times.

"He's a solid basketball player, one of the best professors who played with us. He's not great, but he isn't just out there for show. He can play a little," Max wrote in the Huffington Post.

Obama has shifted his athletic focus to golf in recent years. He told Charles Barkley that he cut back on basketball because of aches and pains, but also because "you've got to start thinking about elbows" fearing that he'd break his nose in a game.
