Exaggerator finally got the measure of Nyquist in the Preakness on Saturday at Pimlico. It took five tries, but the son of Curlin was able to vanquish the reigning Kentucky Derby champ, who ultimately faded to third place, right behind long shot Cherry Wine.

The Preakness payoffs were as follows:

Exaggerator returned $7.20, $3.30 and $2.40.

Cherry Wine returned $9.80 and $4.20.

Nyquist returned $2.20.

The 5-1 exacta paid $88.40 for a $2 bet.

The 5-1-3 trifecta was worth $36.55 for a 50-cent bet.

The 5-1-3-11 superfecta returned $31.70 for a dime bet.
