Police: Woman arrested for attacking kid
A Mansfield, N.J., woman was arrested over the weekend at a high school wrestling match for allegedly going after her son's 15-year-old opponent, New Jersey's Daily Record reported Tuesday.
The incident occurred Saturday at Warren Hills High School during a wrestling match against West Morris High School.
According to Hackettstown, N.J., police, 50-year-old Joanne Pidoto shoved the boy, who she accused of inappropriately hitting her son during the match.
"They were both wrestling, and the way the mother described it, her son got hit without cause," detective Darren Tynan said Monday. "So after the match, she went up to the kid and pushed him up against the wall. That kid's mother was the one who saw it happen, and then other people started calling us."
Pidoto was charged with simple assault and released pending a court appearance. No injuries were reported.
Hackettstown is located in western New Jersey, about 50 miles from New York City.
