Poet's Voice has won the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes to give jockey Frankie Dettori four victories on the day at Ascot.

The Italian rider's feat Saturday came 14 years after his ''magnificent seven'', when he won all seven races at Ascot.

Poet's Voice, the 9-2 third betting choice, emerged from a pack of horses in the stretch and beat Rip Van Winkle by a nose. Red Jazz was third.

Rip Van Winkle was trying to become only the third horse to win the Queen Elizabeth two years in a row.

As the field turned for home, Poet's Voice broke through the pack under a perfectly timed ride and caught Rip Van Winkle just before the finish line.
