Plan nixed to show game at old Tiger Stadium
DETROIT (AP) — A group says city officials called a foul on a plan to
show Game 3 of the World Series between the Detroit Tigers and San
Francisco Giants on the site of the Tigers' old home.
The Detroit
News reports (http://bit.ly/Vvy3uV ) that officials say organizers of
the event where Tiger Stadium once stood failed to contact the city in a
timely manner or follow guidelines for holding events on public
property.
The plan included showing the game on a 20-foot screen. It's being played Saturday at nearby Comerica Park.
Supporters on the Facebook page for Historic Detroit say everybody "thought it was a great idea ... except for the city."
Corktown Cinema program director Brandon Walley says he hopes to hold an event at the site before the series ends.
