The Tigers have decided not to re-sign free-agent catcher Brayan Pena, who shared the news via Twitter on Wednesday.

"I was inform that i will not be returning to The Tigers ,i want to thanks the FANS, the ORGANIZATION & my TEAMMATES for the opportunity !!!!" he said on Brayan Pena@cuban2727. "Now I'm ready to accept the new chapter in my life like i always do, with FAITH & DEDICATION to play the game that I LOVE & RESPECT."

Pena -- signed as a free agent last offseason to replace Gerald Laird -- hit .297 with four home runs and 22 RBIs in 229 at-bats for the Tigers.

Before joining the Tigers, Pena, 31, played four seasons for the Atlanta Braves and four for the Kansas City Royals.
