Pelicans preseason schedule features two home appearances
The revamped New Orleans Pelicans are unveiling a pre-season schedule that will feature two home games in the Smoothie King Center as this potentially playoff bound team begins the process of morphing into a cohesive unit.
Anthony Davis, Omer Asik, Jrue Holiday and company will begin pre-season play against the Miami Heat on Saturday, October 4th in Louisville, Ky. The road trip continues through Atlanta and Jacksonville before the Pelicans return home to face the Houston Rockets on Oct. 14 and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Oct. 16.
New Orleans heads out on the road again to wrap up the pre-season against the Washington Wizards at the Baltimore Arena on Monday, Oct. 20, then versus the Dallas Mavericks at the CenturyLink Center in Bossier City, La. on Thursday, Oct. 23.
The preseason will be especially significant as this young team learns to work together.
Davis, fresh out of another Team USA experience, will be stepping into the premiere team leadership role amongst new faces like Asik and rookie Russ Smith.
Returning veterans Holiday and Ryan Anderson aren't new, but both missed significant playing time last season due to injury. Holiday, in fact, had just a few scant months with what was then his new team before he was sidelined by a stress fracture in his right tibia in January. The presence of both a healthy Holiday and Anderson will no doubt be a significant boost to the team, especially as they learn to play with their new teammates.
