Pelicans fire off red-hot first half; set several new franchise records
The New Orleans Pelicans came out shooting versus the Minnesota Timberwolves Friday night in the Smoothie King Center and never let up.
The Pelicans set a new franchise scoring record for the first quarter, the first half and any half.
New Orleans scored 43 points in the first quarter and 37 points in the second quarter for a total of 80 points going into halftime.
The former franchise record for most points in the first half was 70.
Four players went into the break shooting 100%: Jrue Holiday (5/5), Austin Rivers (5/5), Eric Gordon (4/4) and Luke Babbitt (2/2).
If the New Orleans wins tonight, it will mark the first time the team has been 2 wins over .500 since the beginning of the 2011-12 season, when the team opened the season by going 2-0.
