Paulassilverlining held off Noble and a Beauty by a nose Sunday in the $98,000 Ruthless Stakes for 3-year-old filly sprinters at Aqueduct.

Taking the inside route up the sloppy rail in the stretch, Paulassilverlining battled gamely to earn her third win five starts. Irad Ortiz Jr. was aboard, winning the duel with brother Jose.

Winning trainer Michelle Nevin credited the rider with a good strategic decision.

''He did the right thing, stayed on the rail, and had patience,'' Nevin said. ''Once it opened up, she's a fighter.''

Paulassilverlining paid $4.50 and $2.60 as the 6-5 favorite. Noble and a Beauty returned $4.70. There was no show wagering on the five-horse field.

Dickinson was third, followed by Darling Sky and Stormalina.

The time was 1:12.84 for six furlongs.
