Patriots waive everyone's preseason darling Zach Sudfeld

By Ross Jones, FOXSports.com Patriots fans had their tight end worries eased this offseason by the emergence of Zach Sudfeld, an undrafted free agent from Nevada. Well, that was short-lived as Sudfeld was released on Thursday. The 6-foot-7, 260-pound Sudfeld was deemed expendable after initially making the 53-man roster in September. New England valued Sudfeld’s athletic ability and his special teams work and caught the eyes of several NFL fans after making this catch against the Buccaneers in preseason.

The Patriots signed Austin Collie to take his place and if Sudfeld clears waivers he could be a candidate for New England’s practice squad. Sudfeld mishandled an onside that potentially could've cost the Patriots the game Sunday against the Falcons. Questions? Comments?
