SUNRISE, Fla. -- The Florida Panthers have traded forward Tomas Fleischmann to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Dany Heatley and a third-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.

Both players are scheduled to become unrestricted free agents after this season.

Fleischmann, 30, appeared in 52 games with Florida this season, registering seven goals and 21 points while averaging 14:50 of ice time per game. Signed to a four-year deal in 2011, the Czech Republic native missed only two games in his first three seasons with the Panthers, and led the team in scoring in the first two.

A second-round pick, 63rd overall, of the Detroit Red Wings in the 2002 NHL Draft, Fleischmann has recorded 122 goals and 304 points in 567 career NHL games with Washington, Colorado and Florida.

Heatley, 33, has appeared in six games for the Ducks this season in which he's failed to register a point while carrying a minus-3 rating. He was waived on Dec. 29 and reported to the team's American Hockey League affiliate in Norfolk where he recorded two goals and seven points in 25 games for the Admirals.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2000 NHL Draft, Heatley has notched 372 goals and 791 points in 863 career NHL games with Atlanta, Ottawa, San Jose, Minnesota and Anaheim. A two-time 50-goal scorer, he will report to Florida's AHL affiliate in San Antonio.

Florida now has two third-round picks in the 2015 NHL Draft.
