Pakistan stretches lead to 455 in 2nd test vs. West Indies

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP) Asad Shafiq hit successive half century as Pakistan swelled its lead to 455 on the fourth day of the second test against West Indies on Monday.

Shafiq followed his 68 in the first innings with another fluent unbeaten 58 and Pakistan cruised to 227-2 at lunch in the second innings.

Pakistan got a massive 228-run lead but didn't enforce the follow-on for second test in a row after West Indies was bowled out for 224 in the first innings.

Resuming at overnight 114-1, Azhar Ali added another 27 before he chased Miguel Cummins wide delivery and was caught in the slips for 79.

Shafiq and Younis Khan (29 not out) toyed with an inexperienced West Indies seam and spin attack and added 67 runs.

Shafiq raised his half century with his third boundary when he cut offspinner Roston Chase to backward point.

West Indies wasted its remaining television referral when Jason Holder thought to have Younis Khan lbw on 15 but television replays clearly showed the ball would have missed the leg stump.
