Pakistan progresses to 76-2 in 1st test against England

LONDON (AP) Pakistan lost both its opening batsmen to fast bowler Chris Woakes and progressed to 76-2 at lunch on the first day of the first test at Lord's on Thursday.

Woakes had Shan Masood caught behind in his second over while Mohammad Hafeez - dropped on 11 by a diving James Vince in the slips - went on to score 40 with eight fours before top-edging to wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow.

Younis Khan was unbeaten on 18 and Azhar Ali will resume on 7.

The first of the four-match series marks the return of Pakistan's 24-year-old fast bowler Mohammad Amir, who served his five-year ban for spot-fixing.
