Pakistan eyes huge win after England bowled out for 253
LONDON (AP) Pakistan eyed a huge victory on its independence day after leg-spinner Yasir Shah took 5-71 and bowled out England for 253 in the fourth test on Sunday.
Jonny Bairstow fought a lone battle and scored 81 with England getting a slender lead of just 39 runs on the fourth day.
Pakistan reached 16-0 at tea and is on the verge of leveling the four-match series 2-2 inside four days.
Resuming at overnight 88-4, only Bairstow showed resilience as Shah added two more wickets in Moeen Ali (32) and Stuart Broad for his second five-wicket haul of the series.
Wahab Riaz was stopped from bowling late in England's second innings for running on to the wicket. But the left-arm seamer had by then already broken England's resistance when he got Chris Woakes run out off a direct throw and then had Bairstow caught at covers off successive deliveries.
