SAN DIEGO-- In the bottom of the fifth, Padres pitcher Tyson Ross lined a one-out RBI single to give the Padres a 1-0 lead. It was the right-hander's first hit since 2015, and a big boost to a Friars offense that had been lifeless early in the series:

Jose Pirela later added an RBI single to give the home team a 2-0 lead, a lead that they currently hold heading into the bottom of the sixth.

Naylor, Tatis go back-to-back in San Antonio

Padres prospects Josh Naylor and Fernando Tatis Jr. hit back-to-back home runs in the third inning for AA-San Antonio tonight.

It was the sixth home run of the season for Naylor, who continues to swing a hot bat out of the gates.

As for top prospect Tatis Jr., who has gotten off to a bit of a slow start, the home run was his first of the year. He is now hitting .206 in 34 at-bats.
