GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The cost of being a Green Bay Packers season ticket holder is increasing.
The Packers announced Tuesday morning that ticket prices are rising between $2 and $5, depending on the location of the seat.
Team president and CEO Mark Murphy explained the increase to season ticket holders in a letter that accompanied the invoice for payment. This is the fourth straight offseason the Packers have raised ticket prices.
"These increases will keep us at about the league average in terms of ticket price, which is our goal,” Murphy said in the letter. "We want to be fair to the visiting teams in terms of shared revenue (visiting teams receive one-third of all ticket revenue), but also be as affordable as possible for you.
"This year, with the opening of the South End, we also wanted to ensure that the pricing for seats in the bowl was coordinated with the pricing for the new seating. We strive to provide value to all our ticket holders and are proud of the fact our gameday experience is consistently ranked first in the NFL. Ticket revenue also is an important resource in our effort to remain competitive in the NFL.”
Tickets to Packers games at Lambeau Field are still far cheaper than those of Green Bay's NFC North rivals. Nearly half of the lower seating bowl at Lambeau Field will increase $2 to $74 per ticket. Tickets located from the 20-yard line to the end zone will go up $5 to $85, while tickets between the 20-yard lines will increase $5 to $97. The Chicago Bears charge up to $175 for a sideline seat, the Minnesota Vikings $143 and the Detroit Lions $119.
Lambeau Field's 6,700 new seats in the south end zone will be $82 (700 level) and $89 (600 level).
Suite tickets were also increased $5 to $97.
