GREEN BAY, Wis. --Ā The Green Bay Packers' backup quarterback carousel has not stopped spinning. After releasing both of their top reserves -- first Graham Harrell and then Vince Young -- over the past week, the Packers were left with only 2012 seventh-round pick B.J. Coleman to take snaps behind starter Aaron Rodgers. Now, not even that is true.

Coleman was released by the team Monday morning and was not offered a spot on Green Bay's practice squad. It seemed as if Coleman had beat out Young to be No. 2 on the Packers' depth chart, but that was short-lived. Coleman's preseason performance, which included connecting on just 14 of 34 passes (41.2 percent) for 128 yards with one touchdown and one interception, wasn't good enough to stick around Green Bay for a second season.

Replacing Coleman on the Packers' 53-man roster is 33-year-old quarterback Seneca Wallace. Wallace spent one week with the 49ers in training camp this year but asked for his release. San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh stated that Wallace didn't want to play football anymore, but Wallace later said he had no plans to retire yet.

Wallace was a fourth-round draft pick in 2003 by the Seattle Seahawks. After seven seasons in Seattle, Wallace played three years with the Cleveland Browns. Wallace signed with the New Orleans Saints this offseason but was released on Aug. 19. It was then that he joined the 49ers, but only for one week.

In his career, Wallace has completed 59.2 percent of his passes for 4,808 yards with 31 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. Wallace is now the second-oldest player on Green Bay's roster behind only defensive lineman Ryan Pickett.

The Packers' practice-squad quarterback to begin the regular season is Scott Tolzien, a former Wisconsin Badgers standout and 49ers backup.
