The Green Bay Packers released veteran punter Tim Masthay on Tuesday and claimed Jacob Schum off waivers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The moves comes just a day after the Packers released rookie punter Peter Mortell, seemingly assuring Masthay of the starting job.

Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cleveland Browns, Masthay has been the Packers' punter since 2010, and has appeared in 96 regular-season games since, punting 390 time.

Masthay averaged averaged 44.2 yards per punt, while landing 132 punts inside the 20-yard line over that span.

A second-year punter out of the University of Buffalo, Schum played in 16 games for the Buccaneers last season, averaging 41.9 yards per punt and landing 15 punts inside the 20-yard line.
