Packers release P Schum, sign WR Pearson and RB Williams
The Green Bay Packers have released punter Jacob Schum and signed undrafted free-agent wide receiver Colby Pearson and fourth-round draft pick running back Jamaal Williams.
Schum played in all 16 games and three postseason contests for the Packers last season after being claimed off waivers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Aug. 30, 2016. During the 2016 regular season, he registered a 43.2-yard gross average and a net average of 39.1 yards on 56 punts with 19 landing inside the 20.
Undrafted punter Justin Vogel from Miami (Fla.) is now the only punter on Green Bay's roster.
The 6-0, 194-lb Pearson played in 41 career games over four seasons at Brigham Young, recording 76 receptions for 864 yards (11.4 avg.) and eight touchdowns. The Blackfoot, Idaho, native set career highs in receptions (38), receiving yards (384) and receiving touchdowns (eight) as a senior in 2016.
Williams, also of Brigham Young, was drafted by the Packers in the fourth round (134th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Just one draft pick remains unsigned, third-round defensive tackle Montravius Adams.
