Packers' McCarthy: 'I hope it does snow'

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Weather forecasts are projecting only an inch of snow for the Packers' Sunday night game against the division rival Detroit Lions, but coach Mike McCarthy has no problem if the entirety of Lambeau Field is painted white.

"I hope it does snow," McCarthy said Friday. "I think it'd be great. It's a great setting. Personally, I think snow's fun to play in, so I think our players will enjoy it."

It seems logical to think that winter weather would hinder Green Bay's pass-first offense, but McCarthy doesn't see it that way.

"We're really not in a position to make any changes, personnel-wise, based on the weather," McCarthy said. "But as far as how are we going to play the game based on how much it snows, we're prepared to do that."

If Packers fans want to experience the potentially snowy game Sunday night in-person, there is a rare opportunity to do so with a face-value ticket. According to available records, Lambeau Field has been sold out every game since 1960, a streak of more than 400-plus games. With nearly 100,000 people on the team's waiting list for season tickets, the chance to purchase tickets through the box office is not one that comes around often.

The reason for the available tickets is that the Lions returned more than 200 of their allocated seats for the game, ones that are normally occupied by players' family and friends. Though the seats will likely sell fast, as of early Friday evening, fans can get a quality ticket for $80.
