Outkick's Top Ten For Week Ten 2014

BY foxsports • November 1, 2014

It's time for Outkick's top ten.

1. Mississippi State

Dak Prescott wasn't 100% healthy, but the Bulldogs did what they needed to do to win another SEC game. Now they get UT-Martin which is effectively a bye week before they travel to Alabama.

2. FSU

The Seminoles pulled away late at Louisville and are unlikely to lose the rest of the season.

3. Auburn

The Tigers have now beaten two top ten teams on the road, Kansas State and Ole Miss. The rest of the teams in college football have two road top ten wins combined.

4. Alabama

The Crimson Tide didn't play this week, but finishes with three games against top twenty teams: at LSU, Mississippi State and Auburn. Right now Vegas would favor the Tide over every team in the country. I had Alabama as my third best team in the country last week, but I'm dropping them one spot after Auburn's road win over Ole Miss.

5. Oregon

Oregon has three Pac 12 games left -- at Utah, Colorado and at Oregon State. So it comes down to the game at Utah. Then the Pac 12 title game looks like it could be a default playoff game against Arizona State. I have Oregon here because the home loss to Arizona looked bad based on the way UCLA handled Zona Saturday. No other team in playoff consideration has lost at home to anyone, much less a team from outside the top 20.

6. TCU

TCU found a way to come from behind and steal one at West Virginia, perhaps helping to balance out the game they gave away at Baylor. Beat Kansas State next weekend and given how easy the final three Big 12 games on its schedule are -- at Kansas, at Texas and Iowa State -- TCU's going to post an 8-1 conference record and an 11-1 overall record. An 11-1 TCU team is going to be tough to keep out of the playoff.

7. Michigan State

The Spartans play Ohio State this coming weekend. Unfortunately for Michigan State it's unlikely that 12-1 in the Big Ten is going to be good enough to get into the playoff.

8. Kansas State

Kansas State plays three of its final four games on the road: at TCU, at West Virginia, and at Baylor. Good luck with winning those three road games. In fact, there's no way Kansas State is winning those three.

9. Baylor

Baylor beat TCU and is ranked beneath TCU. That's hard for me to justify considering that both teams only have one loss, but Baylor has a chance to remedy that by winning at Oklahoma and beating Kansas State.

10. Arizona State

The Sun Devils control the Pac 12 South after their win over Utah. I think Arizona State beats Notre Dame next weekend and their only loss all season was against UCLA in a game they played a back-up quarterback.
