OSU's Devin Smith accepts Senior Bowl invite

BY foxsports • January 5, 2015

Ohio State wide receiver Devin Smith's big month of January just got busier.

Smith on Monday accepted an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl, the most prestigious of the postseason All-Star games, in Mobile, Ala. He still has one college game left to play, the Jan. 12 national championship game between Ohio State and Oregon.

Smith's 15 touchdown receptions of 40 yards or more are the most among active college football players at the FBS level. He has 12 touchdown catches this season and four over the last two games.

Smith joins cornerback Doran Grant, tight end Jeff Heuermann and defensive tackle Michael Bennett as Ohio State players who have accepted Senior Bowl invitations. Last year, Ohio State offensive lineman Jack Mewhort played in the game.

Smith grew up in Akron, Ohio and graduated from Massillon Washington High School. He replaces injured Utah wide receiver Dres Anderson on the Senior Bowl roster. Coaches, scouts and front office personnel from across the NFL attend the Senior Bowl practice sessions, which begin Jan. 20. The game is Jan. 24.

The coaching staffs of the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars will coach the game.
