Opener Sharjeel Khan gets maiden test call-up
ISLAMABAD (AP) Uncapped left-handed opening batsman Sharjeel Khan has been included in the 16-man Pakistan squad for the two-test series against New Zealand next month.
The 27-year-old Sharjeel has played 20 one-day internationals and 15 Twenty20s but is yet to make his test debut.
Another uncapped player selected for the short test series is reserve wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan.
Rizwan went on the tour of England, but didn't play in any of the four test matches before he was dropped for the three-test series against West Indies in the United Arab Emirates.
''The test team has been selected keeping in mind the conditions in New Zealand and performances of players in the recent test series against England and West Indies,'' chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq said in a statement.
''The team is a fine blend of experience and youth, and the selectors have stuck to the same combination of players selected against England and West Indies series.''
The first test will be played in Christchurch from Nov. 17-21 while Hamilton will host the second test from Nov. 25-29.
