This isn't the day that athletic director David Brandon can sell the hiring of Brady Hoke as the turning-point moment that unified Michigan's fragmented football program and brought the disillusioned defectors back under the maize and blue tent.

And it's not the day that the loyalists can say for sure that Michigan is returning to a position of prominence in major college football.
