This was a game of momentum. The Thrashers came out and
established a line-over-line forechecking presence from the outset. They scored
the first goal of the game for the sixth time in a row and looked in position
to take out the Lighting for the first time since opening night at Philips when
the Thrashers posted their only victory of the season over the Bolts, 6-3.
Since then, the Lightning had reeled off four-straight in the season series,
with your Thrashers picking up single points in a shootout loss and an overtime
endeavor.
In the middle of it all, goaltender Antero Niittymaki had a
3-0 record to push his personal mark to 16-0 lifetime versus Atlanta. On this
night, he did nothing to lose the game, ending up with twenty-eight saves, with
the winning, though, all about the Lightning
