North Dakota slips past Badgers hockey, 4-3

MADISON, Wis. -- A late surge helped push second-ranked North Dakota past Wisconsin, 4-3, in men's hockey action on Friday night at the Kohl Center.

Visiting North Dakota, which has just one loss this season, broke free from a 2-all tie in the third period, thanks to a pair of goals from Michael Parks.

Wisconsin (0-5-0 overall) had led Friday's contest, 2-1, at 18:51 of the second period, when Jedd Soleway produced a goal off an assist from Joseph LaBate.

The Badgers, playing in their home opener in front of 10,605 fans, also got two goals from Chase Drake on the evening, as well as 39 saves from netminder Joel Rumpel.

North Dakota, which entered the weekend leading the NCHC, improved to 6-1-1 overall with its win.

The same two teams face off again on Saturday, at 7 p.m. at the Kohl Center.
