RUKA, Finland (AP) The Nordic combined World Cup had to cancel an event for the second day in a row Sunday, meaning the season's first competition won't be held until next weekend.
The individual Gundersen event in Ruka had to be called off because of strong winds on the ski jump hill. Saturday's competition was canceled for the same reason.
Race Director Lasse Ottesen says ''the wind conditions this weekend have been too strong and in the line of safety for our athletes, we have had no chance to complete any jumps since Friday. So the World Cup in Lillehammer, Norway, next weekend will be our opening event of the winter 2015-16 and we are very much looking forward to finally get underway.''
